5 Master Tips to Playing Fire Emblem Heroes – An Advanced Players Guide

Fire Emblem Heroes boasts a bevy of characters and an in-depth, addictive leveling system. That being said, it is going to take some grinding if you want to see everything this game has to offer. With all of the hours this mobile game will demand of you, you are going to want to make sure that you are using each moment as efficiently as you can.

To that end, here is a breakdown of five top tips to improving your Fire Emblem Heroes experience.

1. Only Use the Best Heroes

Fire Emblem Heroes boasts a pretty advanced system concerning what determines the power and prowess of each character. Each hero has access to certain skills, that often vary in total number of maximum skill points that can be attributed. There is also the maximum number of merges units they each have access to. Beyond that, each hero also has their own stats. It can be a lot to keep up with.

As provided by feheroes.gamepedia.com, the Arena Score Tier List below takes into account each of these factors when calculating the game’s most powerful heroes for the sake of dueling. Rather you are dueling or facing off against NPCs, these are some of the toughest heroes you can get your hands on. Check it out below.

2. Take Advantage of All of the Game’s Difficulties

From Normal all the way up to Lunatic, Fire Emblem Heroes provides a difficulty fit for every type of player. That being said, you should try to take advantage of every difficulty setting if you want to farm orbs.

You can change the difficulty at which you complete a task by tapping on the blue “Normal” icon as illustrated below.

Each difficulty setting provides its own orb rewards for completing tasks. Consequently, you can complete a task on every difficulty in order to farm the event for more orbs.

3. Save Your Orbs for Upgrading Your Castle

It is a bit of a chore to farm for orbs in Fire Emblem Heroes. Consequently, you are going to want to use the few orbs you have as efficiently as possible. For starters, you should save your orbs for upgrading your castle.

It costs a staggering total of 30 orbs to upgrade your castle. That being said, it is totally worth it.

Upgrading your castle gives your home screen a pleasing makeover. But, the real value in upgrading your castle comes from the passive buff. Once you completed the upgrade, you will earn 100% more experience within the game.

While you can blow all of your orbs on summoning new heroes, your summoned heroes will start at level one. As a result, upgrading your castle first is a great way to ultimately cut down on time spent leveling your heroes.

If that 30 orb buy-in sounds too intimidating, you can connect your profile to your My Nintendo account for a bonus 10 orbs. After you have collected your 10 additional orbs and have purchased the castle upgrade, don’t go spending your orbs on heroes right away.

If you purchase your heroes in bulk, a total of five at a time, you will earn the fifth hero for free. So, simply save up your orbs until you can afford a bulk of heroes to summon. Overall, this game rewards patience when it comes to spending orbs.

4. If You Have the Patience, You Should Reroll Your Starting Heroes

When you first begin the game, Fire Emblem Heroes is going to provide you with a bevy of orbs so you can summon your starting heroes. This is a crucial moment within the game.

Your starting heroes are randomized, as that is part of the hero summoning process, and the quality of these heroes will vary drastically. As a result, it is quite possible that you begin the game with a debilitatingly bad squad of characters.

If this happens, you can always uninstall the game and redownload it. You will have to suffer the tutorial once again. But, this will give you another shot at unlocking an incredibly powerful five-star hero.

5. Bait Your Enemies

Often times, your opponents will not pursue you until you enter their range. You can use this feature to your advantage.

First, set up a kill zone with your characters. The idea here is that all of your attacking characters will be able to unleash havoc on any enemy that walks into a certain spot on the map.

Next, snag your target enemy’s attention by placing a single character at the edge of their threat range. Then, simply lead your enemy into the kill zone.

This can be a powerful tactic when facing tough opponents.

Hunter Boyce

Hunter Boyce is a writer, which probably seems pretty obvious with "author" prominently displayed. He mostly writes about video games. However, he was previously a mixed martial arts news writer. When not writing about people pelting each other in the face or about leveling up in the latest RPG, he tends to spend his time as a web producer in Atlanta. You can shout all of your MMA and video game related quandaries at him at @SomthinClever on Twitter. Feel free to make your demands to him in ALL CAPS. He loves that.
