Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s zombie mode is no joke. The mode will become horrifyingly more difficult as you continue to press on through every level. Things will simply continue to escalate until you’ve had too much. That being said, there are ways to improve your zombie slaying skills for this challenging survival mode.

The most important thing in zombies mode is your loadout. Sure, you will have to go out and collect almost everything you will need. But, it is paramount that you do so. This is not optional.

If you want to be your best, you are going to want to load yourself up with the best perks, elixirs and weapons this game has to offer. Beyond that, there are a few tactics you can utilize to better your chances of survival. Check out the details down below.

1. The Best Weapons for Zombie Slaying

Sure, you are only going to start the game with a pistol when are playing in zombie mode. However, you are going to be collecting guns quickly. If you want to make your way through this survival challenge, then you are going to want to gear yourself up with the best guns.

Gun	Description
VAPR-XKG	If you need a rapid fire weapon, this gun maintains pretty incredible accuracy while throwing incredible amounts of lead downrange.
MOG 12	You are going to want a shotgun early on. Your best option is going to be this MOG 12. Sure, the gun loads slowly. But, it also packs a pretty incredible punch.
Spitfire	The Spitfire is a submachine gun only in name. In reality, this weapon is a top class assault rifle that will carry you to the very top.
Titan	When it comes to cutting down mobs of zombies, there is perhaps no gun better than this light machine gun. It has an incredible amount of stopping power, as well as vast stocks of ammunition.
Maddox RFB	If you want an assault rifle with a little more ammunition, check out the Maddox RFB. This gun will cut down just about anything.

2. How to Defeat IX Champions

The first step to defeating one of these powerful mega zombies? Retreat.

Your team will have to split up in order to ring the necessary gongs that summon the IX Champions. However, you cannot afford to let these powerful enemies divide and conquer your team. After summoning them, immediately fall back and regroup as a team.

Next, flee to the middle of the arena. This way, you will have plenty of space to take on your foes without any unwanted surprises.

When facing a IX Champion, there are two targets to keep in mind. First, you are going to want to focus your firepower on their arms. By doing so, you can actually dismember them. This will make the fight significantly easier, though it can be a tedious process.

Finally, tear off their head armor with a flurry of rounds so you can land a killing headshot. This process will take time and patience, but can be quite rewarding.

3. Best Perks for Staying Alive

There are a slew of zombie slaying perks for you to choose from in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. That being said, all of the perks are certainly not equals. If you want to succeed, you will have to make sure you are utilizing the game’s best choices.

Perk	Description
Dying Wish	During the early stages of the game, getting dropped is avoidable. That being said, things will quickly get chaotic as you continue to survive each round. After a while, you may not be able to avoid getting dropped from time to time. During the late stages of the game, it is greatly suggested that you take advantage of the Dying Wish perk to improve your fighting chance in these moments.
Victorious Tortoise	Your shields will block damage from every direction. Needless to say, this perk is paramount for anyone that wants to tank for their team. Better yet, the shields explode for some extra damage whenever they are depleted.
Bandolier Bandit Perk	During the early stages, this perk may not be of much use. However, ammunition will quickly become a precious commodity as you continue to advance through the levels. Make sure you are always armed to kill by choosing this perk.
Deadshot Dealer	This perk makes killing zombies easier, simple as that. Your gun will no longer sway or recoil as much when fired from the hip. Better yet, your weapon will automatically aim to a zombie’s head whenever you aim down the sights.
PHD Slider	Everytime you slide, you will begin to garner energy. If you collect enough energy, you can slide into an enemy for some explosive damage. This perk is great for more mobile players.

4. Best Elixirs to Match Your Perks

When it comes to picking your elixirs, the game can feel somewhat overwhelming. After all, there are so many to choose from. That being said, you can limit your options by considering which elixirs pair the best with the superior perks mentioned above.

Elixir	Description
Pop Shocks	This elixir will add shock damage to your melee attacks, which can chain to other zombies. This elixir pairs quite well with the Dying Wish perk, as this perk already boosts your melee damage significantly when activated. If Pop Shocks is not to your liking, consider Sword Flay.
Blood Debt	If you need to tank for your team and you are simply out of options, Blood Debt can be the difference between life and death. For that reason, this elixir pairs well with the shield granting Victorious Tortoise perk. If Blood Debt is not to your liking, consider Shields Up.
Phantom Reload	At random, this elixir makes your weapon reloads not cost ammunition. Consequently, this elixir will ensure you get the absolute most out of your Bandolier Bandit Perk. If this elixir is not to your liking, consider Stock Option.
Head Scan	This elixir gives all of your headshots a chance to automatically kill your target. Pairing this with the Deadshot Dealer perk is a truly deadly combination. If this elixir is not to your liking, consider In Plain Sight.
Burned Out	This elixir punishes zombies with fire damage every time they strike you with a melee blow. Combine this with the PHD Slider perk for a punishingly mobile build. If this elixir is not to your liking, consider using Anti Entrapment.

5. Focus on Maps Before New Weapons

This may seem counterintuitive, but it is incredibly important. Spend your points on unlocking new areas of the map before you buy new weapons or powerups.

If you want the best weapons and powerups each map has to offer, then you will have to unlock each of their zones. You can do this by discovering and unlocking doors located throughout each map.

Once you do so, you will be allowed to enter new areas, each filled with more powerful gear just waiting to be acquired. The game only gets harder every round, so it is important to free up all of your options early on while you can afford to use the game’s weaker weapons and items.
