Final Fantasy XIV’s new expansion Shadowbringers is now in full swing and it’s bringing quite a few new ideas to the table. That being said, one thing has certainly not changed. Players need Gil just as much now as ever.

Rather it’s Eureka instance farming, treasure hunts or ventures, there are a lot of different ways to make money. To that end, here is a breakdown of the top ways you can farm for currency in FFXIV. Many of these tips will still work during ENDWALKER.

Eureka, Heaven On High Or Palace Of The Dead

Eureka is an incredibly lucrative instance in which dozens upon dozens of FFXIV players are constantly taking advantage of. And, they are doing so for good reason.

The Forbidden Land, Eureka is made accessible once you have completed the mission “And We Shall Call It Eureka” from Rhalgr’s Reach through Galiena.

You will not be accessing this location from the Duty Finder. Rather, speak to Rodney. From there, meet up with other players from within to form your party. Complete the missions you are faced with upon entry in order to prepare yourself for the instance “raids.”

The objective here is to acquire Anemos lockboxes and Cracked Clusters. These lockboxes will contain greatly profitable items that you can sell on the market.

Heaven on a High Place and Palace of The Dead are also in the same tier of money earners as Eureka now.

Treasure Maps

If you want to talk about Gil farming, then you are going to have to talk about treasure maps. As it sounds, treasure maps can be used to lead you to incredibly lucrative Gil farming treasure hunts.

If you are experienced in Discipline of the Land, you will likely stumble across a few treasure maps of your own throughout your journeys. However, you can also pick some up from the Market Board when necessary.

Always join a map party if you want to farm. These exchanges can be tough and joining an experienced party will greatly reduce time required for the entire endeavor. Ultimately, you will all be sent on a treasure hunt in which you will face a powerful monster in order to earn a hidden stash of valuable loot.

Crafting

The top way to make Gil in FFXIV is through Disciples of the Hand and Disciples of the Land. For starters, let’s talk about how crafting as a disciple of the hand can make you Gil.

The most profitable crafting classes are Blacksmith, Goldsmith, Alchemist and Culinarian. The advantage each of these classes offer is that you can provide highly sought after gear, furniture, consumables and other materials for sale. Most players will not take the time to flesh out their Disciples of the Hand classes, making this a highly advantageous sellers market for nifty crafters willing to put in the work.

Many players do not want to put in the effort to craft basic items that they regularly need. Consequently, there is often a consistent demand for even common crafted items at the Market Board. If you need some Gil fast, this can be an easy to make a profit. That being said, the higher your crafting levels become, there more Gil there is to be made.

Gathering

The Disciples of the Land goes, well, hand in hand with Disciples of the Hand. For every crafter in FFXIV, there is also a gatherer. To that end, there can be quite a bit of money to be made if you are willing to gather materials to sell to avid crafters.

Many crafters do not want to take the time to gather their own materials. Consequently, you can sell even basic materials at the Market Board for some quick Gil. The higher your gathering levels become, the more Gil you will be able to make.

The Disciples of the Land classes Botany, Fishing and Mining can all be utilized for profit. Even if you would prefer to make your Gil from crafting, it is suggested that you spend some time leveling your Disciples of the Land classes so that you can avoid having to pay for your own crafting materials.

If you would like to focus your time and energy on gathering for profit, then consider spending most of your time leveling your mining. Elemental shards, clusters and crystals can all be mined for some serious profit.

Roullettes

If crafting and gathering isn’t really your thing, there is quite a bit of Gil to be made through Roulettes. Joining dungeon roulettes can pull in roughly 5,000-9,000 Gil, while trial roulettes can earn you upwards of 10,000 Gil. The best way to maximize your profits from these events is to always take up the “Adventurer in Need” bonus. The most common roles demanded for Adventurer in Need is going to be a tank or a healer. Consequently, you are going to want to start focusing your build in either of those areas of specialty.

In order to begin doing these roulettes, you will first have to complete your level 10 main story quests. This will unlock the Duty Finder. You can then access the Duty Finder by going back to the main menu and scrolling down to the duty tab.

After selecting the Duty Finder, click the blue square with the question mark inside to view your unlocked roulettes. You can then select the roulette of your choice and begin making Gil and raking in experience.

Ventures

No matter which primary form of Gil farming you choose to pursue, taking advantage of ventures is a great way to boost your profits on the side. You can send your retainer to complete these small quests, allowing you to reap some serious rewards at almost no cost of time or energy.

In order to unlock retainer ventures, you will have to complete a level 17 main quest offered by the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. After that, you will have to spec out your retainer with a class and gear. As your retainer completes ventures, they will gain experience and level up. Consequently, this is a form of Gil farming that will become more profitable the longer you do it.

Next, head to a nearby summoning bell to call your retainer forward. You will then be given the option to “Assign Venture” for your retainer. To send your retainer on one of the ventures, however, costs a “venture” currency. In order to earn this currency, you will need to complete tribe quests, levemetes and you will have to trade company seals.

After completing a venture, your retainer will return with some high quality items that you can sell for Gil on the Market Board. It is important to note that you can send multiple retainers on multiple ventures at a time. Take advantage of this feature to maximize your profits.

Challenge Log

Once you determine your Gil farming method of choice and you begin to utilize ventures in your spare time, you may still want to rake in some extra currency here and there. For those times, there is the challenge log.

The challenge log is a weekly list of objectives that you can complete for both Gil and experience. Completing a single challenge will bring you in roughly 1,000 Gil. But, you can earn roughly 15,000 Gil by completing each week’s log.

In order to unlock the challenge log, you will first have to complete the level 15 quest “Rising to the Challenge” in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks. After that, go back to the main menu and make your way to the Logs tab. The Challenge Log will now be available to you.

Hunter Boyce

Hunter Boyce is a writer, which probably seems pretty obvious with "author" prominently displayed. He mostly writes about video games. However, he was previously a mixed martial arts news writer. When not writing about people pelting each other in the face or about leveling up in the latest RPG, he tends to spend his time as a web producer in Atlanta. You can shout all of your MMA and video game related quandaries at him at @SomthinClever on Twitter. Feel free to make your demands to him in ALL CAPS. He loves that.
