Looking for how to become a Mermaid without Island Living or A Deeper Mermaid Experience?

Expanded Mermaids is the best Mermaid mod right now for Sims 4. Even older Mermaid mods like IL – Sirens have forked into, merged into or is part of Expanded Mermaids already.

How to Become a Mermaid in The Sims 4: Island Living

The Sims 4: Island Living is filled with a ton of new features. Among them, players can now become mermaids. That being said, it will take a little work if you want to make the mythical transformation a reality.

How to Make a New Mermaid Character in The Sims 4: Island Living

The easiest way to become a mermaid is to create an entirely new character within the expansion. From there, click on the small icon at the bottom left corner of your screen so that you can “add a Sim.” From there, select the “special occult lifestyle” choice and you will then be presented with the option to make your new character a mermaid (siren).

Your mermaid can be customized from within the “Siren Editor,” assuring that the new feature is crafted to your liking. That being said, you can also transform a previously made character into a mermaid if you so choose.

How to Transform an Old Character Into a Mermaid in The Sims 4: Island Living

There are a few ways to turn a preexisting character into a mermaid in The Sims 4 Island Living expansion pack:

  • Purchase Mermaid Kelp for 500 Satisfaction points in the rewards store menu. This is the easiest method.
  • Find Mermaid Kelp randomly while diving for treasure at deepwater buoys, after acquiring the special treasures tool.
  • Discover Mermaid Kelp randomly in the hidden cave on the Island of Mua Pel’Am.

Once you acquire Mermaid Kelp, have your Sim consume it. They will experience a “Strange Sensation.”

If your Sim enters water within 24 hours of consuming the Mermaid Kelp, they will transform into a mermaid. If they do not enter water within 24 hours, the effects will wear off.

Playing as a Mermaid in The Sims 4: Island Living

Once you become a mermaid, a few things will change. For starters, you will still retain your human form as long as you are on land. However, you will transform into your mermaid form whenever you enter a body of water.

While in your mermaid form, you will have a faster swimming speed and will be more effective at free diving. However, you will no longer be able to use scuba gear or snorkels.

Even when in your human form, your Hygiene feature will be replaced with a “Hydration” feature. This value will decrease the longer you spend time out of the water. Rather than die when your Hydration becomes too low, you will only begin to stink.

You will also gain a few mermaid spells. However, the spells are not very powerful. Still, it’s a nice change of pace.

How to Change Your Mermaid Back Into a Human in The Sims 4: Island Living

If you decide you are not enjoying your new mermaid form, don’t fret. It’s a reversible state.

In order to change back into a human once you have become a mermaid, you will need to consume two pieces of Mermaid Kelp and then reenter a body of water. After this, you will be back to your human form.

You can always eat another piece of Mermaid Kelp and return to the ocean if you want to become a mermaid once more. Beyond that, once in your mermaid form, you can also consume a single piece of Mermaid Kelp to earn a quick buff to your character.

All Cheat Codes in The Sims 4: Island Living

The new expansion pack is chock full of interesting cheat codes that console and PC players alike can take advantage of. If you want to utilize these fascinating features, however, you are going to have to follow a quick command.
