Playing Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is all about learning how to best utilize the world around you. If you want to make the most out of your resources, then you are going to need to craft some tools to help you along your journey.

Here are the top four tools you are going to need to craft.

1. Sharpened Stick

The sharpened stick is going to be your go-to tool for a variety of situations. The sharpened stick can be used to ward off predators, catching insects, moving rocks and even fishing.

To make a sharpened stick, you will first need to find a dead branch. Next, the dead branch within your left hand.

From there, press the alter button and do as instructed within your HUD. If you successfully complete the necessary cues, then you will earn a stripped branch.

Next, you need to find a rock. Once you have your rock, equip the item in your right hand while the stripped branch remains in your left hand. Hold the alter button once more and follow the cues on your HUD in order to sharpen the stripped branch.

A video of the process may be viewed above.

2. Obsidian Carver

The obsidian carver is a great way to defend yourself, open coconuts, butcher game and hastily sharped sticks. If you want to make one of these items however, you are going to need some obsidian.

Obsidian is quite plentiful within the game, but can most easily be found within caves. After you have your piece of obsidian, you will still need either a rock or another blunt object.

Next, equip the obsidian and the blunt object. Strike the obsidian with the blunt object until you form an obsidian carver.

3. Basalt Chopper

The basalt chopper functions as a largely superior version of the obsidian carver. Consequently, it can be used to cut up game, break open coconuts, sharpen sticks and much more.

To make a basalt chopper, you first need to find two pieces of basalt. This substance can also largely be found in caves. Next, equip a piece of basalt in each hand. Lastly, bash the basalt pieces together until you form a basalt chopper.

4. Granite Grinder

The granite grinder will allow you the ability to form other useful tools by grinding down raw resources. Luckily, making a granite grinder is not too difficult.

First, you must find two granite rocks. These items are plentiful in the savanna and usually appear in clusters.

With a rock equipped in each hand, hold the alter button and follow the cues on your HUD. Once this process is complete, you will have a new granite grinder.

Hunter Boyce

Hunter Boyce is a writer, which probably seems pretty obvious with "author" prominently displayed. He mostly writes about video games. However, he was previously a mixed martial arts news writer. When not writing about people pelting each other in the face or about leveling up in the latest RPG, he tends to spend his time as a web producer in Atlanta. You can shout all of your MMA and video game related quandaries at him at @SomthinClever on Twitter. Feel free to make your demands to him in ALL CAPS. He loves that.
