Getting Started

Before diving into the leveling process, it’s important to understand the key systems at play. In Throne and Liberty, several quest types and activities will grant you experience points (EXP). However, focusing on the Main Story Quests (MSQ) is the most efficient way to level up, supplemented by Exploration Quests and Dynamic Events when you’re stuck behind level gates.

Understanding Leveling Systems

Main Story Quests (MSQ)

The Main Story Quests are your primary source of experience and progression. These quests take you through the game’s narrative while unlocking new zones and features. Always prioritize MSQ over any other activities, as they provide the most significant chunks of EXP. At times, you may hit level bottlenecks that prevent you from continuing the story—this is when you’ll need to dive into other activities like Exploration Quests.

Exploration Quests

Exploration Quests are side quests available in each zone. These offer decent EXP and help fill the gaps when you’re stuck at a level bottleneck in the MSQ. Each zone has its own set of Exploration Quests, which you should tackle when you need to level up between chapters of the MSQ.

Contracts

In major towns, you can acquire Contracts from the Contract Merchant. These quests provide additional rewards like growth materials, Sollant (currency), and sometimes Abyss Contract Tokens. While these contracts are more useful for endgame progression, you can complete a few if you’re really struggling for EXP.

Dynamic Events

Dynamic Events are server-wide occurrences that happen every few hours. These events can range from collecting items to defeating world bosses. Participating in dynamic events is a great way to gather extra EXP while also obtaining valuable loot and upgrade materials.

Dungeons

There are three dungeon types in Throne and Liberty:
Taedal’s Tower (Solo Dungeon): Provides minor EXP but grants valuable progression items.
Co-op Dungeons (Dimensional): These are group dungeons that provide substantial EXP and loot.
Open World Dungeons (Abyssal): These dungeons require tokens to enter but are better suited for post-level 50 farming.

Focus on Co-op Dungeons during leveling for quick EXP boosts, but save your tokens for endgame farming.

Leveling Strategy

Level 1-17: Complete Tutorial & Early MSQ

Your journey begins with the Tutorial, which introduces you to the game’s core mechanics like combat and morphing. After completing the tutorial, you’ll find yourself in the city of Kastleton. From here, follow the MSQ diligently.

  • Tip: When you reach Golden R Pastures and fight mobs, remember to manually pick up loot as auto-loot isn’t available at this point.
  • By the time you reach the Starlight Observatory, you should be around level 12.
  • Continue to follow the MSQ until you finish Chapter 3.

Level 18-32: Unlocking Zones & Tackling Exploration Quests

After completing Chapter 3, you will reach a point where your level might be insufficient to progress the MSQ. This is where Exploration Quests come in.

  • Level 18-21:
    • Head to Urstella Fields and complete Exploration Quests here.
    • Once you hit level 21, continue the MSQ into Chapter 4.
  • Level 21-23:
    • You’ll encounter your first major bottleneck. Complete Exploration Quests in the Nesting Ground and Carmine Forest to reach level 23.
  • Level 23-28:
    • After finishing Chapter 5, you’ll unlock Monolith Wastelands. Complete Exploration Quests here to reach level 28.
    • Avoid the Treasure of Daybreak quest, as it’s time-gated and inefficient for leveling.
  • Level 28-32:
    • Move on to Abandoned Stonemason Town and Moonlight Desert for more Exploration Quests. You should hit level 32 here, unlocking Chapter 6 of the MSQ.

Level 33-45: Overcoming Bottlenecks

At this stage, the MSQ will start giving you more sporadic leveling opportunities, and you’ll need to rely more on Exploration Quests and Dynamic Events.

  • Level 33-38:
    • Complete Exploration Quests in Sandworm Lair and Daybreak Shore. Some of these quests are only available at night, so manage your time accordingly.
    • Focus on quests like Queen’s Trap and The Voice Behind the Mask for significant EXP.
  • Level 38-45:
    • Continue the MSQ through Chapter 8 and finish any leftover Exploration Quests in The Raging Wilds and Manawastes.
    • You should hit level 45 after completing the Manawastes quests.

Level 46-50: Finishing the Adventure Codex

The final stretch to level 50 is relatively smooth compared to earlier stages.

  • Level 46-48:
    • Push through Chapter 9 of the MSQ.
    • Take on Taedal’s Tower floors if you need additional EXP.
  • Level 48-50:
    • Complete Chapter 10, which will take you through Lycan’s Hall and the Pure Light Hill. By the end of Chapter 10, you should comfortably reach level 50.

General Leveling Tips

  1. Prioritize MSQ: Always push the Main Story Quests as far as you can before switching to other activities.
  2. Activate Waypoints: These unlock fast travel points and often trigger new Exploration Quests.
  3. Upgrade Gear Regularly: Make sure to craft and upgrade Green Gear as early as possible. By Chapter 4, aim to have a full set of Green Gear.
  4. Dynamic Events: Participate in Dynamic Events when available for extra EXP.
  5. Taedal’s Tower: Use the tower to gain progression materials, but don’t focus on it for pure leveling.

Endgame Progression

After hitting level 50, your focus will shift to gearing up, unlocking traits, and improving your gear score.

Traits

  • Unlock traits by finding the same item with the desired trait, purchasing extracted traits, or using Trait Unlockstones.

Gear Score

  • Your Gear Score reflects your overall power and determines the activities you can participate in. Focus on upgrading gear quality, enchanting items, and unlocking traits to increase your gear score.

Conclusion

Leveling in Throne and Liberty can be a straightforward process if you prioritize the right activities. Focus on completing the Main Story Quest whenever possible, and use Exploration Quests and Dynamic Events to fill in the gaps when you hit level bottlenecks. Once you reach level 50, start focusing on endgame activities like gearing up and unlocking traits to maximize your character’s potential.

Good luck on your journey to level 50, and enjoy the vibrant world of Throne and Liberty!
