Top Five Tips to Running Your Kitchen – A Cooking Simulator Guide

It’s finally here. The long anticipated PlayWay title Cooking Simulator has finally hit the Steam store. Released on June 6, the game has been out nearly a week now. Since then, the game has been pulling in new and passionate players from every corner of the gaming community.

If you want to master this new and exciting simulator, then you are going to want to pay attention to a few important details. Here are the top five tips to running your kitchen in Cooking Simulator.

1. Don’t Pour Liquids in the Sink

Having a dirty kitchen doesn’t cause any detrimental effects within the game as of now. That being said, plenty of players still enjoy keeping their space tidy. When cleaning up, you may consider pouring your unused liquids in the sink. Do not do this.

The sink is far more difficult to clean than you might initially think, especially if you are using it as a depository. Simply toss your liquid and solid trash in the trashcan for a quick and easy cleanup.

2. Keep Your Spices Close

You will have to access your spices frequently within this game. Consequently, you are going to want to keep these close. Some players find it most useful to place organize their spices by color and to place them near their cook tops. That being said, it will likely take some time before you decide where near your prep station the spices should be placed and how they should be organized.

3. Food Does Not Spoil

Within Cooking Simulator, food does not spoil. Consequently, you can take advantage of the game’s system by never wasting a moment in the kitchen. If you are not quite ready to begin your cleanup but are out of new dishes to prepare for the day, go ahead and begin preparing meals for the next day. Since food doesn’t spoil, there will be no harm done.

4. You Can Reheat Your Food, Though There Are Limitations

Sometimes you will find yourself needing to reheat food, especially if you meal prepped the day before. Luckily, you can reheat your food. There will simply be a few caveats.

It is not suggested that you use plates or bowls to reheat food in the microwave. You technically can, but it will almost always lead to a mess. You can, however, use metal dishes in the microwave. Never use metal dishes in a real microwave, of course.

When reheating your food, you will usually be able to get by with 30 seconds to a single minute on the medium setting with the microwave. If you heat the food too much or too little, then you will miss out on the perfect temperature score.

5. Remember to Multitask

As mentioned before, you should keep your spices close. To make things even more efficient, you should make sure that you are always utilizing these spices to their fullest.

Time is the enemy in Cooking Simulator. There is a lot to do and little time to do it. As a result, you are going to want to maximize all of your efforts.

When you have a queue of dishes lined up, pay attention to their requirements. If multiple dishes need the same spice, make sure you use the spice on every necessary dish within your queue before placing the spice down again.

This may seem like a small measure, but it makes a big difference. If you find yourself repeatedly reaching for and placing down the same spices or ingredients throughout the day, there is a possibility that you could have completed those same measures in a single move.

Hunter Boyce is a writer, which probably seems pretty obvious with "author" prominently displayed. He mostly writes about video games. However, he was previously a mixed martial arts news writer. When not writing about people pelting each other in the face or about leveling up in the latest RPG, he tends to spend his time as a web producer in Atlanta. You can shout all of your MMA and video game related quandaries at him at @SomthinClever on Twitter. Feel free to make your demands to him in ALL CAPS. He loves that.
