We’re proud to announce that Gaming Tier List has launched with new branding and a brand-new logo to refresh the site’s branding and our commitment to the best news and guides for video games. In our previous logo, the colors followed the rainbow which placed red first. The best tier out there, S+, is not red.
It is followed with orange, yellow, green then teal which is completely out of order. The name Gaming Tier List is shadowed and can be kind of hard to read. The logo’s age shows artifacting when pulled up on the latest mobile devices.
That’s when we’ve engaged creative talent and launched our latest logo.
Understanding Our Brand
We’re a forward-thinking organization and our logo should highlight our diversity. We’ve kept the rainbow of colors, but properly aligned them to really define what a tier list is. Additionally, the horizontal boxes are now vertical with a diagonal lean to show fairness.
The higher tiers start further back to give the lower tiers an advantage. Even though we rank heroes, every hero in every game is still valid. The boxes are also moving forward, like we are.
Each square has a visual identity associated with it. The blue square is our commitment to community and trust. That’s our S+ tier rank goal and we’re absolutely committed to it. Our community tools, guides, tier lists and everything else are expertly crafted by subject matter experts who care about the games that they write about as much as you do. The green square embodies our passion for knowledge and growth, we want every reader of our site to walk away having learned something new about the games that they love.
The orange square represents our expertise and talent. We place a heavy focus on leveraging only the top tier subject matter experts. Our writing staff includes writers with two decades of online game journalism experience.
Finally, the red square is our commitment to truth, honesty and integrity which is closest to our name. This is remembering Game Truth, the site that we were before becoming Gaming Tier List and our unyielding loyalty to giving the honest truth about games. We do not post a negative review and then follow that up with guides for a game – we only write guides for games we love.
Our reviews don’t use any numerical rating system and we don’t rank games; we give our honest feedback and opinion as reviewers. We disclose our relationships with developers and respect developer embargoes.
Technology Updates
There’s a certain kind of challenge when your site is running the latest and greatest cutting edge technology stack. The site is nearly future proof and it requires the same kind of skill, determination and lots of testing to continue to push the boundaries of what’s available. We’re proud to announce that the full server architecture upgrade for Gaming Tier List has been completed.
The new server architecture includes:
- Security audit of all API access keys and locking access to static IPs.
- Additional edge locations to serve the site. Additionally stricter caching to provide the site at the fastest possible speeds.
- More load balancing and additional contigency servers.
- Audit of all servers and resources, updates and upgrades as routine.
More has been done to make the site even more secure, fast and reliable. This year we launched our ability to update the SMITE Tier List from the backend without having to have a writer handle it. This lets us assign pros to go in and adjust the tier list without having to deal with the actual code on the site.
Lastly, as part of our commitment to our parent company Yurika Corporation, we’ve added a new “site-news” category and will provide semi-regular updates when things change on the site to give you news on all the cool stuff the team at Gaming Tier List are working on.
