Activision Blizzard Lays off Hundreds of Workers, Despite Record high Revenues

Video game titans Blizzard and Activision joined forces way back in 2007. That being said, it would appear that the merged gaming company is now making some changes Despite record high revenue for the year of 2018, the company will now be laying off over 700 employees. Back in 2007, Activision announced that the company would merge its assets with that of Vivendi Games. Among other things, Vivendi Games is a holding company to Blizzard Entertainment. Consequently, Activision Blizzard, Inc. was born. Red Dead Redemption 2 Hits New Sales High, Latest Figures Revealed

It’s only been a few months since Rockstar Studios’ released Red Dead Redemption 2. However, it would appear that the game has already garnered some serious sales numbers. Now parent company Take-Two Interactive has decided to come forward with the details. While titled Red Dead Redemption 2, the game is actually a prequel to 2010’s Red Dead Redemption. Starring Arthur Morgan, the game centers around the Dutch Van der Linde gang during 1899. Featuring a slew of interesting characters and set in the American wild west, Arthur Morgan is sent on an adventure that will change him forever. Take-Two Interactive has now come forward with a detailed report of their fiscal third quarter. Within, the company revealed that Red Redemption 2 has “sold-in more than 23 million units worldwide.” It’s important to note that “sold-in” means that the game copies were sold to retailers, rather than directly to customers. Breaking: Hi-Rez studios member Elvinelol/Thomas Cheung arrested in child sex sting

A child sex sting operation finally reached its end this Super Bowl Sunday. Of the 21 men arrested, none other than Hi-Rez studios’ Thomas Cheung has been taken into custody. Thomas Cheung has previously worked for CCP Games on EVE Online and held contracts from popular game companies like NZXT who has released a statement saying they are not affiliated with him and they condemned this behavior and Steelseries, who has acknowledged he is no longer associated with the brand, but has yet to release any other statement. Pokemon is a series that is loyal to its traditions, perhaps like no other — if you get a mainline Pokemon game, you know exactly what you’re getting. In a world where a franchise might take a sudden, confusing shift into a direction that you don’t gel with, staying true to the formula can be seen as trustworthy and a good thing. On the opposite end, it’s also possible for a franchise to play it too safe and things could start to get stale. While Pokemon is definitely still enjoyable, it’s a peculiar series of games in that it’s kept up with the times in some ways, but in others is very archaic and has hardly progressed.
