There was not a game released yet that can challenge Anno in its propensity for balancing districts until the release of Frostpunk 2. Frostpunk 1 is about surviving, Frostpunk 2 is about thriving in the frozen wasteland. It’s a bit of a different take than the first game, which I’d compare to a more visual novel-esq experience. The entire city was contained within the original crater and, revisiting the city 30 years later, the original main character passes and you, the new main character as Steward, take over. Your task is to expand the city outside of the crater, establish a city council and make a decision to embrace or conquer the cold. Before being thrown into the mix, you visit a failed generator where you survive the first whiteout at a Dreadnaught. This tutorial serves as a smaller, easier experience before jumping into the main game. A Perfect City…
Beyond Sunset is a fairly decent retro cyberpunk shooter and a fantastical journey through the story and sound, provided by Karl Vincent of a wild cyberpunk world. The world is bleak but so full of character, embodying the idea of synthwave / cyberpunk aesthetics weaved with a lot of DOOM. This review covers the November 2023 Early Access Build. This is one of the few games where the smooth door animations actually impress me. A world built around a strong cyberpunk theme waits for players to jump and slide their way through its streets and towering mega-skyscrapers. If you’re at all into the music or the gameplay of DOOM, this is a definite purchase. If you need some more details, let’s dig in. What is Beyond Sunset? Built on GZDOOM, Beyond Sunset is a retro DOOM-like FPS with multiple hub maps, a full story driven campaign, inventory, RPG elements, side…
Valheim is an amazing viking journey through a hostile world made so much better with friends. One of the beautiful things about Valheim is that single player can become multiplayer at anytime by inviting other players into your world and vice-verse. This of course requires your computer to be on and you to be playing, but what about when everyone wants to build cooperatively but not have the host on? Then it’s time for a dedicated server. You could rent a dedicated server for a myriad of hosts. It’s simple and some even let you host mods. If you do that you’re basically done; rent the server, follow the server hosts guide and voila. Yet you’re now stuck paying for a server that you could play this month or you could not and often times these hosts can have data export restrictions making your game world… their game world. So…
Forspoken is a isekai video game that has you in a magical world working to get back home. The start of the game really sets up the rest of the game and is likely the hardest part to get through so we’ve got some tips and tricks for the early part of the game to get you up and started. This guide works for Xbox, PS5 and PC since all three games are the same. If you’re looking for the best platform, PS5 is likely to run it the smoothest unless you have a beefy PC. If you’re having trouble running the game on PC then don’t hesitate to turn the settings down and make sure to close all the background applications. There’s a demo available for PC players hesitant to purchase. It’s recommended to try the demo first to see how you like it before buying on PC. Down…
Back in the early 2000s, when online gaming was a new frontier lag was everywhere. All of the fun and excitement of online gaming was met with rubber banding (where your character would move forward then snap back to a previous spot), in 2005 when WoW launched you would get stuck in the looting pose and in FPS games were heavily impacted on lag with shots being missed as players rubber banded around the map. These issues these days are still a problem, although not as much of one as they used to be. Gamers, to combat the lag, threw down their dial-up modems with 56k of blazing speed and took up cable and DSL as their preferred Internet standard. You had to live near a hub or some other kind of techno-gadget to get fast Internet, but that quickly expanded by 2010 to almost everywhere. That’s not to say…
This is shaping up to be one intense campaign.
This guide is a slam dunk.
