The Ascent is a cyberpunk action rpg that puts you in the role of an indent, someone who is effectively owned by a corporation and in this instance, the biggest corporation of them all: The Ascent Group. The game isn’t extremely long, but the world’s lore is very deep and quite interesting. For those of you who haven’t played and don’t want spoilers, I suggest you stop reading now. The Story of The Ascent So the player, as the indent, is tasked by Poone who is sort of the stack boss of the area to help bring sanity to their level by doing various miscellaneous tasks. The AGI, an Artificial General Intelligence, owned by The Ascent Group becomes non-responsive forcing the Ascent Group into bankruptcy. This results in the eventual corporate takeover by yCorp, which enlists the indents help to find out what happened to the AGI and bring it…
Tier lists are some of the most shared content around in the FGC and most other competitive titles. It has gotten to the point that they’ve memeed their way into pretty much everything. Cereals? There are tier lists for that, cars? Brands of soft drinks, tier lists styles themselves? It all has a tier list waiting to be developed. Of course, the concept didn’t originate in the FGC. It comes from traditional sports, and even beyond that, it is a handy way to segment things into various categories, in the case of tier lists that are often the quality of each item more often than not. But an element that is discussed a lot whenever new tier lists pop up is not so much their validity but who they are intended for. Are they for Pro players? When competitive players release their tier lists, like it’s the case with Super…
Power Wash Simulator is the latest in the niche yet ever growing mainstream of “common job simulation” games except this one is a bit more satisfying than some other titles, for sure. You’re equipped with your trusty power washer and the ability to change nozzles with a flick of your mouse wheel as you clean grim and cut away at graffiti. There is some interesting tricks to speed up your power wash, but one quick disclaimer: Power Wash Simulator is more of a relaxing jaunt through cleaning than an objective based game. You’re under no pressure to clean faster and there really isn’t anything beyond the super obvious “spray it with water” to get the most out of this game. This is a rare title I’d say it’s more fun to be slow and methodical than it would be to power through it, but we want to take a look…
Discover essential tips and tricks for mastering Creeper World 4, an engaging 3D real-time strategy game that challenges players with dynamic fluid simulation.
So you’ve just started the new expansion (WoW: Shadowlands) and everyone else has months of Renown and you’ve just hit max level. Maybe you’ve taken a break for awhile and your friends haven’t caught up with you yet. It was super frustrating for me too, at the start of the expansion because it felt like I had to do everything to catch my renown up each week and it was pretty fatiguing. Except the good news is that you don’t have to do every renown quest every week if you don’t want to and if you start later in the expansion, you’ll still be able to farm your way to everyone’s current level. It’s very simple: How to Catch Up To catch your renown up just do anything in the game that rewards you something. Covenant Callings, Battlegrounds, Dungeons, world bosses (once per week), various weekly quests, etc. Most of…
Persona 5 / Persona 5 Royal (the updated “golden” version of P5) is an amazingly fun game and unlike Persona 3/4, it’s so much more forgiving in a lot of areas. If you want to play without a walkthrough, which makes the game boring and tedious to get through each day checking and if you mess up anywhere you’re off the boat, then this guide is for you. The problem is that it’s hard to play the game without a walkthrough, because the game is so large and there is so much to do. Here’s the deal – to be time efficient you should spoil the trophies / achievements to know how to get them, but that’s on your second playthrough. You have to have two playthroughs to 100% the game. Therefore you can play your first playthrough however you want to and if you don’t get everything that’s fine.…
Defender Idle is available on Kongregate as a free-to-play idle game. It has a pretty bad score for a myriad of reasons, mostly relating to its launch, but it’s actually a solid idle game with a pretty big community around it, but I like it! The nice thing about Defender Idle is that progression moves swiftly and they throw a lot of mechanics at you to progress. We’re going to focus mostly on the early game, so that you can have fun unlocking all the cool features that come once you setup actual idle play. Starting Out Starting out you’re going to have the university, where you learn upgrades after you “surrender” or “lose.” The bulletin board which is daily quests. The school to unlock more turrets and higher levels of those turrets. The workshop, where you can upgrade your turrets as they level up. Finally the research center, where…
The year was circa 2002. Ragnarok Online was getting long in the tooth and I was invited into a mystical world that existed only until 2005, which was Dark Age of Camelot. The entire game itself was I would argue harder than Dark Souls. Soloing anything was next to near impossible and leveling required a group and lots of patience. FFXI, while not my cup of tea, was in many ways similar and players have similar opinions. The point of the game, the success, came from community. Building community with like minded players who wanted to sit and chat and play a video game together was your reward. It wasn’t power. It wasn’t fame. It wasn’t prize money. It was friendship, something we’ve long long lost in online gaming. To level, you would have to have a stereotypical archetype group of a tank, healer and DPS. The tank could only…
Black Desert Online is receiving a new class on January 22nd, which is a great time to start up a new character and work through some different trade skills. Starting Christmas Eve (December 24th) you can pre-register to get in line for the new class. The Guardian is a new melee class which should help add to the already impressive roster of available classes in the game. In other BDO news, a holiday event is going on right now that’s got some really awesome rewards for just logging in. If you haven’t logged in for awhile, do it now. If you want to start, now is the time with 60% off the game and these really awesome login rewards for the holiday. I’d suggest buying on Steam, versus directly through the site, so you can launch with Steam, but you do you. Finally, the succession event continues with two other…
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island is a prequel to the Mario series and canonically likely the very first title in the series. It’s a story of adventure as Yoshi and his friends carry baby Mario through Yoshi Island to reunite him with his brother who has been successfully kidnapped. The plot doesn’t matter nearly as much as the gameplay does. It’s basically the same gameplay from Super Mario World but drastically enhanced, retaining the simple controls and launching the series into a world that’s both dramatically colorful but also somber and creepy and every emotion between. With Yoshi’s Island now on the Switch, there is no better time to revisit a series classic and play one of the most satisfying SNES games out there. You’ve got 48 levels across six worlds to play and with the ability to rewind time on mistakes, a journey only as difficult as you…
