There’s a few things that’s kind of hard to find in the world of video game collecting and one of them is hilariously enough storage solutions. It’s quite difficult to obtain some method to store and display physical games which is where Rose Colored Gaming’s “Köffin” comes in. A full acrylic shell to cover your game from all edges and protect it from the elements while allowing you to still see the full game inside. About RCC’s Koffin Coming in two variants, a base model at ~$20 USD and a UV protective model at ~$30. They are actually quite extremely expensive with the most sincere honesty here when it comes to game storage. The general plastic covers that you can buy in bulk come maybe a dollar a piece; if you buy from a game store sometimes they’ll charge you a few bucks each. These those come with a hefty…
There’s a lot of mediocre headphones on the market but if you don’t read anything else in this article, then I hope you takeaway that the Audeze Mobius Headphones are a true gem in the rough. We’ve had multiple staff at Gaming Tier List give these a go for an upcoming gaming hardware tier lists series we’re planning and we have to say that these are front runners for S Tier but we’re definitely going to break down our opinions and we’re only going to focus on real world use cases – there isn’t any technical specs out there that will convince our ears that they’re great. We’ve got a lot to cover but let me give you the highlights on what we love and what we don’t first and if you want to learn more of how we came to those conclusions, you can read further below. What We…
RoleGenerator was launched in July 2021 oriented to helping dungeon masters and roleplaying game enthusiasts with generating a lot of the day to day minutia of their roleplaying campaigns. As of right now, they have 28 modules divided into two categories: Dungeons & Dragons and generic roleplaying generators. The latter refers to narrative content or content that isn’t specific to any game system and ubiquitous across any type of roleplaying gaming. There are modules focused purely on roleplaying, my favorite being the land and event generator which will take a terrain type and generate flavor text and events that randomly could occur which is great for fleshing out tile by tile what’s there (or even in building rooms for a MUD). Their D&D module generates a shop with inventory, which is useful in building some much needed randomness between shops. Many of the modules include in-depth looks what the generator…
2023 Review Update: Still using the keycaps purchased in 2021. No impact so far to them. They’ve not discolored and still function fine. There’s a new trend in the mechanical keyboard world known as pudding keys, which are not taking the niche but far more mainstream than it ever was community by storm, but more by a light drizzle. Pudding keycaps are keycaps that include a semi-transparent base to the key that allows RBG light to shine through, giving you more light for each key and a kind of “pudding” effect to the RBG glow of the keyboard. Steelseries has joined the trend with the release of their PrismCaps, a set of pudding keys that work universally for most mechanical keyboards. I purchased my set at Best Buy for $29.99 and got them in about five days after ordering them, due to no local availability. SteelSeries has no involvement in…
Murder by Numbers is a “nonogram,” “griddler” or “pixel puzzle” game mixed with a bit of visual novel style detective work. You can sum the entire game up by saying take a healthy dose of Picross and mix it with some Phoenix Wright and you now have an entirely new game. The comparison with Phoenix Wright starts and stops in the visual novel category, though. There is no in-depth investigation periods like in the Nonary Games or in Phoenix Wright. No courtroom trials like in Danganronpa or Phoenix Wright. There is pixel puzzles and a story and in a lot of ways, that’s fine. The gameplay loop is simple. There is a mystery to solve. You investigate by scanning a scene (you have a radar type mechanism to tell you where to go). When you’ve found something you’re thrown into a pixel puzzle which you solve and then obtain the…
Over the Alps is a really unique adventure game that’s a mix of the Grand Budapest Hotel, every spy movie ever made and a choose your own adventure with some serious consequences to your actions. It’s broken into four acts and each act can take up to an hour with your various choices that play out through choosing postage stamps for post cards not so much changing the location but the general story and how characters interact with each other. In many ways, it works like this, you have a set path that you move through the game and a general flow for how the story will play out, however, the details of how what when and where play out throughout the game. In this review I will not talk about any details of the game, they must be absolutely enjoyed. However, the below animated GIF is how the game…
The Movies, a business simulator, launched in November 8, 2005 and is still, today, played by an ongoing community who loves not only the fun of building your own movie studio but also the fun things you can do with the movie creation tools. YouTubers Life OMG! is, in so many ways, a modern streamlined version of The Movies, just without the animated movies built in. YouTubers Life takes you into the life of a burgeoning online video star who starts their career with a potato for a PC, mic, webcam and general setup while living with their parents and follows their career house to house as they expand their video making empire. Each video you produce allows you to choose cards to decide outcomes that impact the videos script, acting, editing and sound level. You then go in and edit the video, working in post-production to match scenes together…
Ring Fit Adventure is a wild ride into the world of “Wii Sports” if it were. To be completely upfront and honest, it accomplishes something that Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus and the Wii Balance Board couldn’t accomplish which is an actual workout, with some exceptions which we will get into. The circular band is a massive improvement over both the balance board and the Wiimote only modes of play that previous iterations have. If you don’t know what it is, you basically have a leg strap to measure where your legs are and a “Ring Fit” which is a circular ring that you attach a Joy-Con to. With the ring, you can press in or pull out and the game measures not only its relative position but also what you’re doing with it and the intensity. An adventure mode exists that allows you to go on an RPG like…
This is a difficult topic for me because I believe that games journalism is just such a weird thing to begin with. I’ve been writing in this industry now for over 15 years professionally, as in paid to write and it’s still hard for me to even consider myself a journalist. I’ve sourced stories, been featured on TV shows as someone who predicted World of Warcraft going free-to-play and in general have spent most of my time honestly just writing guides and covering games I liked. Here’s the thing, people look at the folks writing about games who do present themselves as journalists and pass some interesting judgements good and bad about their content, but these days it’s actually really hard as a text based site to matter to the marketing companies that are hired by developers and publishers unless you’re the mainstream media. It started back when video was…
Borderlands 3 is the sequel to Borderlands 2 and kicks off with a new vault hunter back on Pandora taking on an epic adventure throughout the galaxy. There is a lot of the same and a lot of new things in this rendition and our review is pretty simple. If you want an FPS loot game that’s sillier than Destiny 2 and/or an improved version of Borderlands 2 then this game is a must have. The looter shooter has impressive combat, great guns and fun characters to play with some interesting and challenging encounters throughout the world. If you want a detailed story FPS game then, I’m not sure I would recommend Borderlands 3. The story, while long and very in-depth, isn’t very good. The basic premise is that there are two people who have taken over the bandits on Pandora and formed a cult. You’re basically fighting against the…
