The Life of a Magical Circle is the first game from Solideo, a one-person indie game development studio looking to focus on more philosophical games. Their first title definitely doesn’t disappoint, taking the general aesthetics of Geometry Wars, with the frustrations of Getting Over It, dashing in a bit of roguelike and philosophy with dynamic music, narration and lots of intent. There is a lot to what is overall a rather simplistic game. There’s just a circle, it’s a bit hard to control and there are things that you don’t want to hit. There are some collectibles. There’s not a lot going on until things start to advance and the narrator starts to provide color to the world you’re playing within. Soon you’re trying to figure out what each collectable does and what you’re wanting to collect and not along with the true meaning behind the journey. Intentional Design Simple…
A stylish condenser microphone that had frequently updated software, full on-mic control for sound, an output jack and can be mounted is something of a rare find in the sub-$100 bracket. The MAONO DM30 (Amazon | Official Site) comes out on top as a microphone that provides not only top tier sound but provides all the various bells and whistles of a much higher end microphone. There’s a lot out there, but a lot of it doesn’t come with many features, is poorly built or just kind of lackluster in the sound department. When we took a look at the DM30 we took an extensive look at what came in the box and you actually get a lot here. You get a standard mount and a USB cable that works as both usb-c and usb-a allowing you to use it with thin laptops and any other computers. The RGB flows…
Tier lists are some of the most shared content around in the FGC and most other competitive titles. It has gotten to the point that they’ve memeed their way into pretty much everything. Cereals? There are tier lists for that, cars? Brands of soft drinks, tier lists styles themselves? It all has a tier list waiting to be developed. Of course, the concept didn’t originate in the FGC. It comes from traditional sports, and even beyond that, it is a handy way to segment things into various categories, in the case of tier lists that are often the quality of each item more often than not. But an element that is discussed a lot whenever new tier lists pop up is not so much their validity but who they are intended for. Are they for Pro players? When competitive players release their tier lists, like it’s the case with Super…
There is a lot going on right now about the Amiibo and Animal Crossing: Horizons. A lot of “thin” articles that are stacked referral links to buy them, but what can you do with them and which ones should you buy? First, all Animal Crossing Amiibo do something (i.e. gives you a poster), but not all of them invite the character or allow you to take photo shoots with them. The Amiibo cards (Series 1-4 and Welcome sets) allow you to do everything, posters, photo shoot and invite village animals to your camp. Sanrio cards and the physical figures, including the smash figures only allow for posters. Updates will improve functionality moving forward, although the Isabelle smash Amiibo will work for photo shoot. So if you want to buy something, look for the card packs while they’re still cheap. At launc they’ll likely skyrocket in price.
Black Desert Online is receiving a new class on January 22nd, which is a great time to start up a new character and work through some different trade skills. Starting Christmas Eve (December 24th) you can pre-register to get in line for the new class. The Guardian is a new melee class which should help add to the already impressive roster of available classes in the game. In other BDO news, a holiday event is going on right now that’s got some really awesome rewards for just logging in. If you haven’t logged in for awhile, do it now. If you want to start, now is the time with 60% off the game and these really awesome login rewards for the holiday. I’d suggest buying on Steam, versus directly through the site, so you can launch with Steam, but you do you. Finally, the succession event continues with two other…
