What’s with the New Sonic Movie Design?

With the live-action trend happening in movies today, it’s no surprise that a Sonic the Hedgehog movie is going down. The character design was recently leaked, and I must say that it was a little shocking to me. I’ll let you be the judge yourself. The image of Sonic was released but then taken down by the movie marketing company. Maybe the design will be revamped due to a backlash on social media; I’m not sure. Personally, I am not a fan of the design. I think it looks weird and whacky and is a poor representation of Sonic. It appears a little creepy honestly, not like a hero that you would want to root for. I don’t get why they are going for this realistic, live-action concept for Sonic. Take a moment out of your day to rewatch Pork and Beans. It’s such a good song to me because around 2009 / 2010 this was really rad and impressive. Today it’s sort of like, a time capsule of the era, where the Internet was still the wild west vs. what I feel is this dystopian future of toxicity across social media and memes popping up and dying within several claps of Pewdiepie’s hands. BioWare Begins Internal Search for Someone Named “Sovereign” to Save Company After Anthem ala Nintendo

If it’s something you can believe, that speaks to BioWare’s problems eh Bowser move over, BioWare is attempting to find someone internally to promote to CEO named Sovereign, to bring forth their powers to help save the studio after yet another flop has been released. Anthem, their first original IP since Dragon Age, has flopped because everyone on social media has said it has. Previous games, such as Mass Effect Andromeda were on sale for $9.99 shortly after release, being a game that was similar to the Halo games that didn’t have Master Chief, but with the trappings of a numbered Halo game. Nintendo recently promoted Bowser to rule over Nintendo of America, dethroning the bad meme that was Reggie, in order to instill an iron fist rule over the corporation. Nintendo’s President of America Reggie Fils-Aime Retires, Replaced by Bowser

After nearly 13 years as the president and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime has now decided to retire. A new president of Nintendo of America has already been chosen, being none other than Doug Bowser. Reggie Fils-Aime quickly won over the hearts and minds of many Nintendo fans with his gentle and open demeanor. Fans would go on to form memes of the Nintendo of America president, such as can be found below. In a joint statement on Thursday, however, Fils-Aime and Nintendo of America announced that the company’s president and COO would be retiring this spring. Current senior vice president of sales and marketing Doug Bowser has since been chosen to replace Fils-Aime as president of Nintendo of America. Alterna Comics Founder Targeted in Latest Alleged ‘Swatting’ Hoax

‘Swatting’ is a growing phenomenon within the gaming world. Now Peter Simeti, founder of Alterna Comics, has become the latest alleged victim in an open ‘swatting’ case. ‘Swatting’ occurs when a person phones in a false report to 911. Claiming that there is a violent, terrorist related threat occurring within a home, the caller intentionally has armed SWAT teams sent to the recipient’s home. The act is considered a prank to some, but often ends as a fatal final moment for those on the wrong end of the supposed joke. Back in 2018, for instance, 25-year-old Tyler Barriss plead guilty to a series of prank calls to police. Among them, one of the supposed pranks ended in the death of 28-year-old Andrew Finch. Recently, it was exposed that Thomas Cheung, a popular video game influencer and employee of Hi-Rez Studios, makers of SMITE, Paladins and Realm Royale, was arrested in Operation Interception. Operation Interception was a sting, much like the Chris Hansen “To Catch a Predator” series, where suspects were caught soliciting sex from a minor. While innocent until proven guilty, the allegations and the evidence presented so far are very serious. Of course, sadly in our society, this isn’t a once off situation. These busts occur frequently and the work of our officers and legal system work diligently to protect society from this kind of harm. What makes this situation relevant to the gaming community is that Elvinelol was a popular influencer, affiliated with many gaming brands and ran the local Twitch Atlanta Community (not affiliated with Twitch). Breaking: Rooster Teeth has Parted Ways with Vic Mignogna

Anime voice actor Vic Mignogna has been cut from his role in popular show RWBY. Rooster Teeth released a statement on their website saying “Effective today, Vic Mignogna is no longer a part of the cast of RWBY and Rooster Teeth is ending all associations with Mignogna. This will not affect the creative content of RWBY.” There have been sexual harassment allegations popping up, but Rooster Teeth didn’t announce any reason for cutting its ties with Mignogna. Mignogna is being accused of homophobia and inappropriate, unwanted physical advances on females at fan events. Mignogna has been accused by many who have met him at conventions. There are even stories of Mignogna dealing with underage girls. These allegations first came to light on social media, mainly through Twitter, and have quickly snowballed. Breaking: Hi-Rez studios member Elvinelol/Thomas Cheung arrested in child sex sting

A child sex sting operation finally reached its end this Super Bowl Sunday. Of the 21 men arrested, none other than Hi-Rez studios’ Thomas Cheung has been taken into custody. Thomas Cheung has previously worked for CCP Games on EVE Online and held contracts from popular game companies like NZXT who has released a statement saying they are not affiliated with him and they condemned this behavior and Steelseries, who has acknowledged he is no longer associated with the brand, but has yet to release any other statement. (Tweets below). This is a travesty for the gaming community, in which he had many hands in and wore many hats in the last few years for. ‘South Park’ Video Game First Impression

Being a big South Park fan, taking on the absurd world of South Park: The Stick of Truth was such a blast. It was without a doubt the funniest video game I have ever played. When I heard they were releasing a sequel cleverly titled The Fractured but Whole, I knew I had to get my hands on it at some point. It has taken me a long while to finally get around to it, but thanks to Redbox, I am finally back in the cartoon world of South Park, Colorado again. And boy is it sweet. This game picks up right where The Stick of Truth leaves off. The neighborhood kids are all busy playing as fantasy, Lord of the Rings style characters until they decide that’s lame and they decide that superheroes are the way to go instead.
